if we think the Lord is telling us that He is going to put us together in marriage with a person who is already married, then we have deluded ourselves because God will not break His own "Logos" word in order to satisfy our petitions; He would not lead us into such a blatant violation of His written commands. However, God is not a legalist, and Christians are not under the law (of the knowledge of the fruit of Good and Evil) but we are under the higher law of "love of God and neighbor"; so we must judge our actions and paths, not by do's and don'ts but by this higher standard.
"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength -- they shall rise up with wings like an eagle; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint" Eagles are the highest flying of all birds, and with their telescopic eyesight, they can pinpoint objects very far ahead long before others even discern their existence -- so too can we! For these verses reveal to us, that the Lord will lift us up. (If we wait upon Him) unto His high places of spiritual vision, where He will actually give us glimpses of our future -- we call this getting a "Word" from the Lord.
However, we must remember that Satan is opposed to God's perfect will for our lives, and will try every trick in the book to foil God's purposes. By sowing doubt, unbelief, fear, skepticism, and especially through practical, common sense reasonings, the devil seeks to steal God's "Rhema" words from us -- striving to get us to compromise, by settling for less than God's best. This is represented in scripture by the life of Esau -- who gave up His birthright for a bowl of bean soup; Christians today should consider that their lives can either end as an Esau or a Jacob. For we are not talking salvation from hell here, but the path of rulership and eternal reward. Satan often tries to immobilize our usefulness to the Lord, by pulling us from God's best into the Lord's permissive will, for this is the realm Satan dwells in. This is the domain of Ishmael, Cain, Esau, Saul, and all spiritual compromisers -- it is a land of disobedience and rebellion--spiritual neglect, and ultimately bitterness.
Often the visions the Lord reveals to us are absolutely impossible in the natural, but God is the God of the Supernatural and to Him all things are possible. Joseph received a "Word" from the Lord, that one day His brethren would bow before him; after sharing his vision with his family, every single circumstance turned contrary for the next 25 years. Satan, having heard God's word to Joseph, attacked him through his brethren through slavery, imprisonment, temptations, false accusations and shattered expectations. But Joseph held on to God's word, realizing that God is faithful and that He would bring it to pass. God's timing though, is not always our timing, and He will often test our resolve and our allegiance to Himself. If we compromise, we shall be deemed unsuitable for ruling with Him. This doesn't mean we lose our salvation, only our future position of authority and reward. Remember, we are at war, and only those soldiers who excel under duress achieve medals (in the natural). This is true also in the spiritual dimension -- only those who finish the missions God gives them, by denying themselves and by carrying His cross, will be rewarded.
